Yin Yoga "Athletic Recovery" Class
Coach: Michelle Mixell, owner of Yin Yoga Works, is a registered yoga instructor at the 500 hour level with Yoga Alliance and a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists.   Recognizing the significant healing potential of Yin Yoga, in 2010, she teamed with Dr. Troy Allam, D.C. of Craig Ranch Chiropractic to study the efficacy of yin yoga to treat chronic low back pain.  An abstract of their work was published in the International Journal of Yoga Therapists and Michelle presented the findings at the IAYT's Symposium of Yoga Research.
When: Wednesday
s, noon - 1:15pm Starting in April through June (no class on 4/25 & 6/13).

.
Format:  Yin Yoga Athletic Recovery Class is a yin yoga class tailored for the needs of an athlete.  In this class we will focus on gently stressing the connective tissue, fascia and joints of the shoulders, low back, pelvis, hips and spine by moving the hips/spine through the entire range of movement in a series of long held, relaxed seated poses.  This method is a compliment to your sports conditioning, training or current active exercise routine.  Yin yoga focuses on stimulating attachment and insertion points of the muscles and joints to increase flexibility and range of motion, reducing chronic pain.   The quiet meditation in each pose will also increase mental focus and concentration.  No yoga experience necessary!

Cost: $17 drop-in per class or $120 for the 8-class series ($15 per class).  SPECIAL: Pre-register with someone new to "Yin Yoga Works classes" and both receive a rate of $96 the full 8 class series ($12 per class).
